Neighborhood Guide · Haw Creek

Close enough to everything. Feels like neither.

Haw Creek is East Asheville's quiet, wooded pocket — winding roads, mature tree cover, and a real sense of privacy without feeling remote. I've lived here myself, and it's genuinely underrated: close enough to downtown and the Blue Ridge Parkway that you'd never guess it from how still the streets feel.

THE REAL READ

Haw Creek follows its namesake creek east from town, and the terrain shapes everything about how it lives — lots are often wooded and sloped rather than flat, which means septic and grading questions come up more here than in flatter parts of the city. It's worth having those conversations early with any home you're seriously considering.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is close enough to be a genuine weeknight option rather than a special-occasion drive, and the neighborhood's mix of home eras — from older cabins to newer builds tucked into the trees — keeps the price range wider than you'd expect for how consistent the feel is street to street.

I lived in Haw Creek before, and I closed a sale here in spring 2026 — it's one of the neighborhoods I recommend most often to buyers who tell me they want quiet without giving up a real commute to downtown.
